The official Oath-Taking Ceremony for the newly elected office bearers of the Dhuthi (ദ്യുതി) College Union was conducted at the Peet Memorial Training College auditorium on November 7, 2024. The proceedings began at 10:30 am with an introductory address by the Union Advisor, Dr. Sony Mary Varghese, who officially announced the names of the new student representatives.
In the presence of the college community, the Principal, Dr. Alie Molly Verghis, administered the oath of office to the new Chairman, Mr. Sefon Sanu Mathew. Following his induction, Chairman Sefon Sanu Mathew led the remaining 14 office bearers in their respective oaths and affirmations. Of the 15-member council, seven officers chose to take their oath in the name of God, while eight entered office through a formal affirmation.
During the keynote address, Dr. Alie Molly Verghis offered her felicitations and guidance to the student leaders, with additional congratulatory remarks provided by Dr. Elizabeth Joshua and Mr. Tony Cherian. A significant symbolic moment occurred when Dr. Sony Mary Varghese used a central lamp to light individual candles held by each office bearer. This ritual was intended to represent the union members' roles as torchbearers and committed guides for their fellow students and the broader community. The ceremony concluded at 11:20 am, marking the official commencement of the 2024-2025 union term.
