Ethirineram' Children's Day Celebration @ Jyothis Special School and Therapy Centre, Mavelikara
On November 14, 2024, the National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of Peet Memorial Training College hosted 'Ethirineram', a meaningful Children's Day celebration at the Jyothis Special School and Therapy Centre in Mavelikara. The event began at 10:00 am with a welcome address from the school’s manager, Rev. Vinod Eshow, who introduced the volunteers to the center’s mission. He spoke passionately about the societal responsibility of teachers to provide specialized care and advocacy for learners with disabilities.
The morning continued with felicitations from Dr. Mumtas S, the NSS Programme Officer, and Mr. Biju David, the staff representative, both of whom praised the collaborative spirit of the volunteers and the resilience of the students. In a historic moment for the institution, the event also featured the first-ever oath-taking ceremony for the school's newly elected student office bearers.
The festive atmosphere of 'Ethirineram' was brought to life through a series of student performances, including a fancy dress competition, solo and group songs, and energetic group dances. Following these performances, prizes were distributed to the winners of the fancy dress contest to celebrate their creativity.
As the program reached its conclusion, student coordinator Ms. Arya A.R. facilitated an experience-sharing session for the volunteers, and Mr. Sefon Sanu Mathew delivered a formal vote of thanks. The day’s activities wrapped up at 1:10 pm with a communal refreshment break and a spirited Children’s Day rally involving both the students and the NSS volunteers.
